What kind of lipo is right for me?

Dr. Hall utilizes different technologies to achieve the best results available in liposuction. "We never know what particular technology may be right for a patient until we are actually in the act of performing the surgery" states Dr. Hall; "It all has to do with the consistency of the fat and each person is very different".

Dr. Hall believes that at Infini Cosmetic Associates one particular technology should not be advertised: "We are not selling machines; the machine is only a tool. We are here to give excellent liposuction results and care to our patients, and that comes from the physician and his expertise".

Many technologies are advertised as the "latest" or "revolutionary" systems. These trends in technology come and go and we often learn that the results of many of these are not really what was advertised. That is why Dr. Hall only uses technology that is medically proven by independent physicians (i.e. physicians that were not paid by a company who is selling a particular technology) to give enhanced results.

  Types of Liposuction
There are many liposuction techniques available today. However, they are not all equally effective or safe. Tumescent liposuction is considered the best because it has been well documented as safe, effective and the cost is very competitive.

Traditional Liposuction
Traditional liposuction involves what is referred to as “dry technique,” where a cannula (tube) is inserted directly under the skin and fat cells are sucked out. When popularity of liposuction skyrocketed in the 1970’s, there were horror stories about blood loss, disfigurement, and even death. The trauma associated with traditional liposuction is now attributed to the “dry technique” which is more invasive painful, time consuming, and requires a longer recuperation period than any other liposuction technique. It is rarely used today.

Tumescent Liposuction
Tumescent Liposuction, also referred to as Liposculpture, is by far the most popular technique of liposuction in the US. It is considered the best form of liposuction because it introduces a “wet technique” which infuses the area to be treated with a large volume of fluid, typically 3 or more times the volume of the fat to be removed. This fluid contains anesthetic which reduces bleeding and pain. This process, known as “wet technique” also allows for a much smaller incision and a very narrow cannula to achieve the desired results. Tumescent Liposuction completely eliminates the need for general anesthetic and provides the shortest recovery time, typically only about 24 hours.

Smart Liposuction
Smart Liposuction is relatively new, having only been approved by the FDA in 2007. Smart liposuction is performed using laser technology. Fat cells are actually liquefied by a laser and then removed using tumescent liposuction technique. Smart liposuction is most effective on smaller areas, and must be combined with another type of liposuction if larger areas need to be treated.
